Has anyone in here ever switched from a regular riding mower to a zero turn riding mower?
Bylift&shift 101 asked:
If so,do you like the zero turn better than the regular rider?Do you feel if you could do it over again youd go back and buy something different?

Please explain because im trying to decide between a regular riding mower and a zero turn mower.I have never owned a zero turn but was curious about how people feel about them.Thanks.

hi i switched from a regular mower to a zero turn i can mow a lot closer to things it helps to cut down on push mowing and weed eating you will need to go slow at first so you don’t up set some home depots and Lowe’s and some lawn and garden will let you try them at the store
The zero turn radius also known a ZTR mowers can turn like a tank. By locking one wheel forward and the other in reverse you can spin in one spot. This makes them really good at making tight turns. The ZTR’s generally cost a lot more than regular riding mowers of the same power and cutting width.
The question Id ask is how much grass do you plan on cutting with it. If you are only cutting a small to medium sized lawn the ZTR is not practical. The only one that can decide if it is right for your situation is you.
If you do decide to buy one you will want to go slow. Until you get the hang of using one you can really do some damage. Good Luck!
Here on the farm, the J.D. rider sits in the shed since buying a Gravely zero turn. (I don’t do handles well, when he’s gone I use the J.D.). He finally traded the Gravely last year…for another Gravely. Granted his deck is larger, he can mow 3X as fast as I can on the J.D. He can mow in the rain or after dark, I would plug up with wet grass. Even mowing in the rain, it still spreads the clippings out nicely. Had to put a piece of carpet on the deck, for the farm dog to ride too. We mow a good 5 acres, he gets it done in one day. Takes me 2 1/2 with the J.D.
